I have an old 19 inch monitor that is like 5 years old and I wanted to reuse. Do you think it will have good picture quality? Are all CRT monitors pretty much the same? Just to note that this thing cost like 600 dollars so its not bottom barrel.

Try it out if it does work you saved money. High quality CRTs are nice and cheap now, or just buy a good lcd.

They certainly wear out. Rule of thumb is 3 years of use for critical work like digital photography. (Some would say 3 to 5 years.)

Just have to try it I guess.
