Firmware update

I am going to update the firmware on my Asus cd-rw. I was just wondering if the update goes wrong is there anyway to save the drive or will it just keep the old firmware?

If the update goes wrong you will have to reflash an old firmware revision to restore functionality to the drive.

Might be something to consider.
