Need help with few questions here...

1. DELL Dimension 8300 support what max ram? found in the website stating that it support max 4GB (PC2700) or 2GB (PC3200). Is that true?
2. How much speed different is PC3200 and PC2700?
3. Why is the "match ram" (ex. #KHX3200AK21G)more expensive than the individual x 2 (ex. prod. #KHX3200A/512)?
4. What's the difference between Kingston #KHX3200AK21G & Kingston #KVR400X64C3AK21G?
Edited by z3ro on 03/10/04 05:31 PM.

1.) The more modules you add, the greater timing issues become. It's likely that the motherboard's BIOS compensates by limiting 4 modules to PC2700 speed, but 2 modules to PC3200 speed. 1GB/slot limit.
2.) Depends on if you have an 800 bus CPU, then the difference can be as great as 20%.
3.) Because it's tested in pairs. Most of the RAM on the market is too crappy to run stabley on many Intel Dual Channel chipsets in Dual Channel mode. If you can't afford pairs, Crucial.com sells memory that uses stabler SPD values.
