Adding More Ram

Currently I have 2 x 256mb Corsair Dual channel kit. I'm looking at getting a stick of 512mb Corsair. How big of a performance hit will I take by running 2 x 256mb sticks and 1 x 512mb stick. Thanks in advance.

A very small one, you might not notice. In fact you're probably running XP, and in that XP will probably cache a few more files to RAM, more than making up the loss.
