Hi I have an HP laptop which is about 2 years old. I love this laptop it has always performed well but it has began to over heat recently. I noticed a few months ago my laptop would shut off if I did exessive downloading and would be very hot near the heat sink. As time went on the problem got worse and worse. Now it has gotten to a point where it starts up, and within 5 min. it shuts off again. I'm not sure what the problem is but I was told to try and clean it out. I tried to clean it but it was very hard to open up. There were a zillion screws and at the end of the day I didn't end up cleaning it. I want to get into the heat sink area but I am having a hard time, can someone tell me how to get in there... or anyone know what the problem is with my laptop? Thanks!

One of the easiest ways to clean it out doesn't even require opening it up. Go to a local Staples or office supply store and buy a can of compressed air. Aim it at the intake and give it a good blast. Repeat the process going this time through the exhaust port and then go back through the intake. It'll cost you like 10 bucks and only take 5 minutes.

Dust is one of the major issues with laptops. I cleaned mine out when I got home from college and my temps dropped about 5-10 degrees C.
