Alienware is moving into the peripherals business, and true to form, everything is premium quality - for a premium price. But is the Ozma 7 worth it, for either audiophiles or high-end gamers?

That's what I wanted to know. I posted another forum topic regarding this.

It may due the readers a little better service if someone could run a comparison of these headphones vs something of the same calibur (Like the Sony MDRV700's $240CND retail) They are industry standard for DJ's and Audiophile's alike.

Just my $0.02...

The exclusion of a microphone is actually a good thing. One unfortunate problem with having the microphone on the headset of this type is feedback noise from the headset itself. When attempting to communicate, you all too often will get a lot of the game noise in with your voice as the headset vibrates the sound into the microphone. It's much more advantagous to use a desktop microphone when using large headphones. That way you don't have any physical connection between the speakers of the headset and the microphone allowing noise to mask your own voice. Or worse giving other players an "echo" of the same sound they've already heard as it comes through again along with your voice.

I don't find that, at least in headphones of the size of the Ozma 7 at least. And going about with a desktop mic is not feasible, at LANs etc. Better to at least have the option.

True, but you also have to look at what/who these headphones were designed for...

If they were designed for the serious online gamer yeah the omission of a mic is a fatal flaw.

But judging by the $200 price tag, and the quality audio components I'd say these are more aimed at your audiophile/rich kids who's parents don't want a thumping system pounding away in the background.

In that case the omission of a mic is a godsend. I for one would never use them with my PC, if I get them (and they are being considered) they will be for daily MP3 listening, and DJ'ing use. Neither of these would be possible if they had a mic, or at least you'd look like a tard while doing it.

No..they aren't. Fact is... better headphones are available on the market... (Audio Technica's A900's, or Senn HD595 for gaming)..

But I digress...

Would you happen to know what Ultrasone model these are based off of? Or are these brand new headphones.
