Your question

ACHI vs raid mode performance.

Last response: in Windows 7

I have a OCZ agility 3 360gb and 1T hdd in GA-Z77 D3H with ACHI mode enabled. OS is install agility 3.
If I have the mobo in ACHI mode, windows 7 finishes loading before animated windows logo is formed. If I have the mobo in RAID mode, windows 7 finishes loading a couple seconds after animated windows logo is drawn.
1) Does that mean raid mode is slower than ACHI mode?
2) In order to enable Intel Smart Response, the mobo have to be in raid mode. Since my OS is already installed SSD, does it make sense to enable Smart Response to cache the hdd?

I would leave it the way that you have it. The Intel Smart Response was designed for a small SSD (40gb or less) to be used as a catch for a larger hard drive that had the OS on it there by speeding up the OS performance. Since you have the OS on the SSD it makes no sense to enable the ISR , because you have the fastest option now.
