THe 40GB HD on my R3000 (DL273AV) ground to a halt - with appropriate grinding sounds. I bought as a replacement for the OE ST94019A ( seagate 40GB) 60GB Seagate same series ( Momentus 42). The computer doesn't see the new drive and I get the 'media error type cable unplugged message.'I've gone through the BIOS and nothing seems to help. I've read about Seagate discwizard- they talk of a bootable floppy to configure the new drive - but that seems to be for a system with an intact OS. Any help greatly appreciated! :(

You don't need an intact OS to boot from a floppy.
