I have been trying to find out a good laptop for me. I am starting to go to school this fall. I want to go for Dell XPS M1330 but I have a couple of questions.

1) Will 4 cell battery be enough. I dont have a huge budget. I started with a budget of $800, but I guess looking at the weight and features of 1330 I can go for about 1200 at the max. So I wanted to know that if 4 cell battery will suck absolutely or will it create heating problems. OR its life will be over in a year or two and i have to buy a new one.

2) I cannot afford LED screen. Is the laptop worth it without the LED screen. What are the advantages.

Thanks

The LED screen will make it thinner, slightly lighter, and use less power, therefore extending the battery life. As for the 4 cell? How much battery life are you looking for? I would probably go to something larger, but if you don't need too much battery life, the 4 cell will be the smallest and lightest. I personally would go to at least the 6 cell, but again, it depends on how much battery life you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply. I can go for a 6 cell battery.

So the LED screen costs me about $150 extra, which I think is too much. Is it worth it. Any idea how much heavier or lighter would it make the laptop ? The non-LED screen is the same as other laptops.

Here's the thickness difference, I don't know for sure about the weight. As for is it worth it? I would probably get it if I was going to constantly lug it around and almost always be using it on battery, and lightweight and thin mattered to me. Of course, it probably isn't worth it if you're on a fairly tight budget.
