my 250GB HDD only read 128GB in winXP

hi guys,
sorry, it's a kind of basic question. i just bought a new 250GB SATA HDD. after i formatted it in winxp using manager. it only read 128GB. why? anybody knows how to fix this problem? thx in advance

Yep, that's a limitation of XP. You need SP1.

I had the same problem with my new 200gig Seagate. You need to go to the site of the manufacture of the drive. There you will find some software that will edit your registry to allow larger drives.
