i've got a toshiba satellite that i keep having problems with. the problem is i've gone through 3 hard drives in a short period of time. it hasn't been abused or dropped or anything like that.
the laptop will work with a new hard drive for a while then i'll get the IDE #0 error and i'll have to replace the hard drive. it'll work again for a while and then i got it again. this happened on the original drive and 2 new ones.
i've looked all over the net and haven't found a real solution other than replacing it. the only thing i think i could be is the hard drive caddy. it doesn't have one and i have no idea why it doesn't have one. there are 4 or 6 copper looking clips on the sides of the hard drive bay but i don't know if those have anything to do with it or not.
i really don't want to buy a new drive only for it to happen again.
My dell ate 2 hardrives in a month. We took it in for repair and it ate 4 of their harddrives so they gave it back to us and we left in a closet for a year. I found it under some stuff and loaded windows xp. Been working for about a year half. So jus tignore it for a while, it will get the message and stop screwing with you. At least thats what i did.
