When accessing "My Computer", it takes along time before the files show up.
I found one KB article (819017) dealing with this subject and it didn't help.
When we start the computer is safe mode, it works fine. The computer is a
laptop with SP2 installed. Thanks.

Try this as a check
Go to START - RUN type in MSCONFIG and enter
Go to the SERVICES TAB and find WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) and uncheck
it.
Then restart your computer and check the MY COMPUTER access.

If this fixes the problem, go to START - and right click on MY COMPUTER
then choose MANAGE.
Then drill down to SERVICES and disable WIA.

MS has a KB on this problem and it is generally due to several brands of
scanners.

Notice that it is only "My Computer" that take a long time to display the
drives. Not the whole computer.
This is a known problem with the Windows Image Acquisition Service. It
also stops the folder display in Windows Explorer.
