Having convinced myself that all was ok, I purchased a Western Digital WD2500BEVE internal hard drive for my HP G5010EM Notebook Laptop, it arrived, only to find that it has a different connection interface. Original drive has a pcb card type connection whilst the new drive has a pin type connector.

Is there any way by which these can be married up.

Excuse my lack of technical term, I'm on a learning curve here.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

The drive you purchased is IDE, while it sounds like your laptop is SATA. There isn't any real way to make it work either. You need a SATA drive.
