I thought this would be interesting info for all the TB SC users/lovers out there. Turtle Beach have a new sound card out named Catalina 7.1.

Frankly, I'm a bit underwhelemed looking at the details or specs and considering the $80 price tag which makes it almost directly comparable to Audigy2 ZS and a few Envy24HT based cards e.g. 24-bit/96KHz is only available through digital input/output, analog output is still at 16/48. 7.1 is available in any sound card these days and it has support for all the usual positional APIs which again is nothing special. Plus, they don't even mention the DSP onboard or the CoDec chips' models and quality.

Let's wait for the reviews to know more.

Well at least there's something new to talk about. I'm so tired of reading about people with all of their Creative problems. Hopefully this new soundcard will be a smashing success like the TBSC.

Actually Black_Cat its hitting the market in 3rd or 4th place from the git go, it seems spec wise that adding the additional 7.1 is really about all that distinguishes it from the TBSC, I can't believe after all this time waiting for Turtle Beach to do something new, that they market an impotent soundcard from a gaming standpoint, that doesn't support EAX past 2.0, what a major disappointment. Well I guess you'll have to bash me for saying that cause I jumped the turtle Beach ship, and bought the Audigy 2 ZS, which has turned out to be the best Soundcard I've owned yet, It Rocks!!! Thats all there is to it, It Rocks!!! No Complaints at all! No problems at all!

Say it ain't so!

I am still completely happy with my Hercules GTXP but I know someday in the near future I'm going to have to upgrade. I just hope somebody other than Creative will come out with something decent. And I hope whatever it is has a breakout box. I love the breakout box.

Yes its so! I'm absolutely amazed at the Audigy 2 ZS's performance my friend, and I actually waited, ran it, and tested it, for about 6 months before starting to reccommend it to anyone, I really didn't want to give up my Turtle, but it was seriously falling behind in gaming performance, and some games it wouldn't half work at all with, but I haven't found a thing yet the ZS can't handle gaming wise, or audio wise.

Really and truely the performance of the ZS is what we all were looking for in a soundcard, and its a shame that Creative took so long to finally produce a product thats worth spending money on, if they truly had concentrated more on customer satisfaction from the beginning, they wouldn't have lost so many customers like yourself, that are reluctant today to give them another chance, even though this time the product is worth the investment.

All that aside, Hows things going with your dad? I'm sure you got all his computer problems straight a long time ago. I've seen you around posting from time to time, but some of the posts were like wars or something like that, and I really didn't want to jump in to say hello, when you were in the middle of a heated moment, if you know what I mean.

I hope all is well with you, and I'll catch you later. Ryan

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I still have quite a bit of hatred in my heart when it comes to Creative. I'll eventually give up my GTXP, albeit kicking and screaming, as I feel the cold grip of obsolescence around my neck (and wallet).

All that aside, Hows things going with your dad?
All is well except now he wants to video conference. That's right. For as long as I've known him, my dad has been stuck in 1955. Now all of a sudden he wants to video conference. So, of course, he assumes I am the guru of all gurus when it comes to webcams. Honestly, I've never used one. I've never installed one. I have no clue at all about them. So I started investigating.

I got him a good deal on the Ezonics EZPhone Cam. I got his cam up and running and loaded up the software. Ezonics gives you software called "EZ Video Chat". They should have named it "Crash Chat". The software is aweful. It's supposed to connect to Ezonics' Server where you come up with a name and password and it's supposedly simple and free. I'm sure it would be but the server is down! What a pain. So I've been putzing around with M$ Netmeeting and I got my end up and running and then I lost my array. I just have to make the trek down to my dad's to get his side up. I'm sure I'll be asking seemingly elementary questions in the "Other Components" section soon.

I've seen you around posting from time to time, but some of the posts were like wars or something like that, and I really didn't want to jump in to say hello, when you were in the middle of a heated moment, if you know what I mean.
LOL! I try not to get into any wars with anybody. A few ways to avoid wars is to avoid topics regarding politics and religion, disagreeing with Crashman, and feeding trolls. But if I do get sucked into a clash you are welcome to jump in and say hello.
