Using Windows XP (Pro) is it a good idea to make a seperate partition for the swap file? Will this help performance? And if so how large of a swap file/partition?

Thanks to and and all replies...

It is recommended to put the swap file on a different physical drive than the one the OS is installed on. You won't gain much from making a partition for it on the same drive as the OS is on.

Abit IS7 @ 275 FSB, VAGP @ 1.65, OCZ PC4200 RAM @ 550Mhz, P4 2.4 @ 3.3Ghz Vcore @ 1.625, GeXCube Radeon 9600P @ 450/626.

You wont gain any performance increase by having it on any seperate partition or on the main one. The big advantage to having it on a seperate partition byitself is to reduce fragmentation.
Most people will suggest to set it to 2.5 times the installed memory. It depends alot on what you do. I have 512 and mainly play games. My swap file is set at 800 megs. although ive never seen it go above 200.
