Just a quick question. (I searched but didn't find an answer. So either it is a stupid question that has never come up or I'm too stupid to find the answer with a search.)

I have XP on CD but it was for a desktop that I owned (went belly up). I'd like to install XP on my laptop. Will a desktop OS work on a laptop? As I recall, it used to be that laptops took a different version of the OS than a desktop (but admittedly that was way back in the 3.1 days).
