USB plug too hot

I'm using a microsoft wireless mobile mouse 6000 on my dell inspiron 17. I noticed the usb plug that goes into my laptop was getting very hot, too hot to touch. I pulled it out, let it cool, put it back in, but it did not seem to recognize again. I plugged other USB devices into the same port on the laptop and they come right up.

Is the wireless mouse going bad? What can I do?

Sounds like it's an issue with the USB port. Are any of the other ports doing it? I'd get in touch with Dell and see what they have to say. They may take a look at it for free because it could be a safety concern.

if dell won't I'd cnotact microsoft, they'd probably ship you back to dell, but worth the complaint just to see what they say. I'm always down for free parts
