Website not working on my PC, works elsewhere.

Hey to all,

I was updating my wallpapers from netcarshow.com a few days ago when the connection suddenly went down. I thought it was due to maintenance from their end, however, I could use the site from another location. It also doesn't work on my WiFi connection at this location also.

I am using a 100Mb fiber optic line connected to an 8 port router.

I have tried:

1. Clearing cache from both IE9 and Chrome,
2. Checked for malware (Malwarebytes and Avast),
3. Checked firewall (didn't know what to look for so turned it off)
4. Turned off virus software.
5. Tried pinging the site and came back no reply.
6. Unchecked proxy option in internet options (was unchecked as default).
7. The site doesn't work on other PCs on the network.

I am curious as to why this is happening.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I think you might want to reset your router.
It may be erroneously blocking the web site you are trying to access.
I had this problem some time ago.
I thought the web site was defunct, but resetting the router corrected it.

Quote:
go to your router setting and see if this pc is permit to acces the wi-fi

Did it as best I could. Everything is in Korean. I actually reset all settings for the router to factory.

Did that. No go.

I also reset all IE9 internet option settings back to default. I think it was at default to begin with.

Any other suggestions?

It's not a biggie, but it's the first time it's happened and I'm curious as to why its happening.

Cheers guys.

Hey Scout,

Sorry for the late reply. It was 3.30 in the morning and I was completely wrecked.

I tried your method and it WORKS!

So my question to you is "How do I get things working using the router and WiFi?"

Thanks again for your time.

Best solution

in your router the mac for wi-fi is not set on as a permit address and also check if you connect to your wi-fi network and not a surounding one with the good login password, name and model of your router

Update: Success!

The guy from my ISP came and fixed it in 5 minutes.

My previous setup was:

100Mb/s fiber optic line>modem>WiFi modem>router.

The new setup:

100Mb/s fiber optic line>modem>router>WiFi modem.

He said that the website wasn't recognizing the 172 ISP address of the WiFi modem and was looking for a regular 192 address.

Not sure if it's BS, but he got it working.

Thanks Scout for your efforts.

Much appreciated.
