Floppy Drive Problem

My floppy drive quit working months ago and since I never use it, I really didn't care. Now, however I need it. The drive (a:) shows up in "my computer", but when I click on it to view the contents of the inserted floppy I get the message "please insert a disk into drive a:". I know the disk that is inserted works. I bought a new floppy drive today and installed it with a new cable and I still have the same problem. How can I troubleshoot this problem?

If the floppy led is constantly lit, the cable needs to be flipped over at the plug in point of the floppy drive, as a general rule the twist in the cable goes to the floppy drive itself, and the other end of the cable to the M/B connection point with the red wire to pin 1.

Agree with above post 100%

I have seen more floppies with leds constantly lit than I've seen any other hardware problem.

It's all good ^_^
