Best places to find games?

I used to play a lot of Dip. After a break of a few years I fancy a new
fix. I would be grateful for a list of places that I might check out to
find a game. Any good match making sites? I would prefer a live DM to
start with rather than a computer.

Are you looking to play Face-to-Face or online?

For Face-to-Face, the best up-to-date resource is the North American
Diplomacy Federation website, which has a listing of groups around North
America that play face to face, along with contact info for game organizers:
http://devel.diplom.org/NADF/site_map.htm

For email Diplomacy, there are a number of groups, usually the judges is the
easiest way to get started: http://www.floc.net/dpjudge/

Also, http://redscape.net/ (Redscape) and
http://www.lancedal.demon.co.uk/dip2000/ (Dip 2000) and
http://www.worldmasters.net/portal/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=23 (Cat23) come
to mind.

Hope that helps...

Three large human-GMed forums you might want to check out are Cat23 (
http://www.worldmasters.net/portal/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=23 ),
DipWorld ( http://www.worldmasters.net/dipworld/index.asp ) and
Redscape ( http://www.redscape.com/forum/index.php ).

The NADF site is helpful.

Dan -- where do you live? There are a number of email mailing lists
on Yahoogroups.com specifically for getting local people together
for face-to-face Diplomacy.

NYC-Diplomacy for NYC
Northwest_Diplomacy for Oregon, Washington, and BC.
MSG_Seattle_Diplomacy for Seattle.
piggybackdip is for Portland
MADip-L is for New England
CincinnatiDiplomacy is for Cleveland
stlouisdiplomacy is for St. Louis
CADS_DIP is for North Carolina
sfbay-stratgame is for San Francisco, but includes other games as well

There might be others as well . . .

Anyone know of other Yahoogroup mailing lists for face to face Diplomacy?

And one other: Diplomacy 2000, at
http://www.lancedal.demon.co.uk/dip2000/. It's a fairly large forum
with a lot of games going, and a good number of very strong players.
The one caveat is that the waiting lists have been slow lately.
Otherwise, I think it's an excellent venue.

Actually, as one might assume from the name of the group, the
CincinnatiDiplomacy yahoo group is mainly for *Cincinnati* :)

We actually have yet to get an actual game going, but the purpose of
the group is to get FtF going in Cincinnati and the surrounding
cities, i.e. Columbus, Dayton, Louisville, Lexington and Indianapolis,
though we certainly wouldn't turn down anyone from other places.

Doesn't anyone get my jokes? Or do I have to put a smiley next
to *everything*?

All the more reason for the OP to join the mailing list, assuming he
lives in the area. Or not (I'm on the list and I live in Vermont).

Dan, we want you back from your break!!! We need to have that Cinci
game going!!!

Anyone around here who is looking for a great FTF fix should think about
coming to Boston next weekend, June 19th and 20th, for the Boston
Massacre! It's going to be a huge amount of fun. I'll go look up
the details and post them here in a separate note.
