Getting two windows 7 in boot menu after clean install

Hello,
I had windows 7 32bit running on my laptop and just wanted to install x64 win7. I put in the win7 dvd, chose 'Custom" and formatted the previous drive. Then I got expanding files etc and then the system restarted but I pulled out the win7 installation disk before that. After all this, I see two instances on Windows 7 listed in the boot menu and I can select either. After that I get the date time, etc set up and then a restart. "Preparing system for first use" then some steps and then a Welcome followed by a "shutting down" and the restart. Now all i get is a blank black screen with a cursor blinking. Tried reinstaling several time, tried leaving the disk in, chaning boot order, installing from USB. I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 Corei3
