The first one has a faster processor and a slightly better graphics card, along with a bigger screen.
The second has a slightly slower processor and a slightly worse graphics card (even though it has double the memory for it, i doubt you'll use any of it at WXGA), and a smaller screen.
Comes down to size..would you like a smaller notebook or a larger one? They will both perform in the same ballpark of one another. The smaller notebook has a 6-cell battery, whereas the bigger one has a 9-cell, but the bigger one also has a larger screen eating more power, along with beefier hardware. I'd say their battery life is within 30mins of each other.
+1^
The main difference is their screen size,it depends on u to choose between 16" and 18".
Also too add to frozenleads answer, the ACER model has better sound quality too
