Ok I've been searching and searching... but I can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I have a Toshiba A105 and recently it just started acting up. It doesn't go into standby anymore. It doesn't give error messages or anything you click standby.. nothing.. you shut the lid... it turns into a hot plate.

So any help.. at all.. cause this is really irritating.. I depend on standby to go from class to class and what not...

New News... I found I can't hibernate either.. I fiddled with the power settings I put both close the lid and pressing the button on hibernate and nothing. The only thing I can do is hold the power button to fully turn off the laptop. Nothing else works...

You need to both OS & drivers to do standby/hibernate. OS needs to be set up correctly. i.e. shut lid to stand by. What OS?

For drivers:

I suggest you reinstall any power drivers or anything related with your notebook. If that fails, do a repair on windows.

Check the BIOS to see if there are any awry power settings, too.
