I'm looking for a purely USB driven touch screen to use as an additional input device and to extend my monitor.

Anyone have any leads?

I'm looking for something in the vein of the now discontinued Massworks ID-75:

Basically, I want to be able to display say Winamp or Gaim on the mini touch screen and control them or load pallettes for say Photoshop.

Wow... it's definitely too bad that product's off the market. They had a clear winner for DIY Home Automation, and didn't even realize.

I've been looking at Xenarc, Lilliput, and Dynamix, among others, for touchscreen LCD offerings for a home A/V control system based on Win MCE 2005. The product massworks was making would have been far better, because it wouldn't require its own separate video output.

Crestron and I believe Control4 offer hard-coded screens for hard-coded AV control systems, but nothing as flexible or powerful as the ID-75. Even the size is good for an in-wall control.

Oh well. Please post back with whatever you find, and I'll do likewise.

You might be able to do something with RTI Technology. They seem pricey and hard to find, though.

NEC currently makes 15 and 17 inch touch resistive and capacitive monitors that use USB.

ASLCD52V-BK-TC - capacitive
ASLCD52V-BK-TR - resistive

ASLCD72VX-BK-TC
ASLCD72VX-BK-TR

Below is the PDF spec sheet for these monitors.
