I'm a laptop newbie. I owned one 9 years ago, and unfortunately, it was stolen 6 months later. I never replaced it. It'd be nice to have one while sitting in my living room or to take with me on the road.

1_What is your budget? $600 - $800

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 15.4"

3_What screen resolution do you want? 1280 x 800 is fine

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Portable

5_How much battery life do you need? 3 hours would be nice.

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? I really don't play computer games. I may install a chess program, or occasionally play flash games online.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, surfing the web, playing music, watching movies, Etc.)
All of the above to some degree but mostly to surf wirelessly at home and wifi hotspots, MS Access and other MS Office products. Hi def movie watching not needed.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need? 250GB or so

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them. I have around $800 in Circuit City gift cards, so I'd like to use them there if possible. www.circuitcity.com

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop? 4yrs

11_If you would like to mention some other things about purchasing your ideal laptop, post them. I'd like a dependable make with favorable owner opinions. ie. "Would I buy the same laptop or from the same manufacturer again?"

12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
The Gateway I linked to is the one I'd be interested to get feedback on. Input on other brands Circuit City carries in my budget range are also welcome.

13_What country do you live in? USA

The machine seems to fit the bill you have. It's a nice computer.
