Windows upgrade fouled my pc

My custom pc went through a automatic upgrade and it has done a few things I was not aware of until too late. 1st it took out a lot of my start menu short cuts and put in a few that I hardly use. 2nd it has deleted my Internet Explorer icons in the start menu and I have no idea where they are, I have done a search for Internet Explorer but I am unable to locate it and when I down load it and try to install it says I have a newer version and will not install. ( Can anyone help me out cause I do use it even though I also use Firefox). I also noted it now takes longer to boot up as well.

If Ie9 is listed in Control Panel 'Uninstall Programs', try uninstalling and re-installing...
Hmm. Probably won't find it. Try this instead

It is not located in the control panel. Also I can download Ie9 but I can not install due to the program already installed and telling me I have it already.

Did you already try system restore ?

Presume you mean 'Automatic Update' and not 'Upgrade'. In which case you could try to restore your system to a date prior to the update and get your Ie back...

...dodger46-'Automatic Update'. I suppose I could go to "Windows-Control Panel-Programs and Feature and then locate the files that were upgraded and one by one un-install them. Which would be very time consuming. I had hope there was some type of file that had a shortcut in it ?

See if you can restore back to prior to last update using System Restore.
Start Button, type 'System' and choose 'System Restore' in 'Programs'
Select a date immediately previous to the day you started having problems...

Also you should find the Update which installed Ie9 right at the bottom of the Installed Updates list

Windows Internet Explorer is not even in the Programs section which baffles me too. I can not uninstall it cause it is Not listed nor is it listed in either c/programs or programs(x86).

What results do you get when you search for Internet Explorer from the Start Button?
