help i reinstalled windows xp professional sp3 in my gateway but the sound card conexant audio dosen't accept the driver the web site of gateway says this the right driver...but it won't intsall it...help

What do you mean it won't install? Is it throwing up errors?

i went on the website downloading the the driver and ir see the driver in device hardware but it doesn't accept it .. and that's the driver the website says to use ..another way to say it when i hit the hfxsetup.exe it goes to a command black screen then it disappear.. and nthing is updated..

my problem is i have the same problem with a dell 600e i try to update it with windows xp pro sp3.. and dell suggest the driver for the sound card comes with windows xp ..well it doesn't ...on the compaq system do you think i need the update the bios.. or am i just very frustrated...

I don't know... are there any other available drivers for you to try? Or just the one? What's your gateway model?

gateway mx6028 sorry about the confusion...the driver is Conexant_Audio_6.14.10.0565.exe - Gateway Conexant Audio this driver has a setup file that started to install then fail,,same as the modem driver..

You can also try installing the drivers manually; that is, not running the setup exe but going to Device Manager and running the Update Driver procedure making sure to Install from list or specific location.
