Two New Games Now Open, Modern and Empire

I've slacked off this year in terms of making new Dip games available for
playing. So, to make up, I'm starting two new games:

* 'bleakhouse' on USDP -- Empire variant. 48 hour moves. Broadcast only;
white/grey press allowed. 8 positions still remain. Very likely the last
new Empire game you'll see this year!

* 'dydx' on USOS -- Modern variant. Broadcast only; white/grey press
allowed. No one has signed up so far, so all 10 positions are available.

Hope to see you all there. I've found the pickings on the listings to be
somewhat meagre this year, and the stats on floc.net seem to support
this...we're significantly short of 2003 game availability. Any theories
on this?

There seem to be no lack of games on dipbounced.

My main two theories as I travel around the big wide Internet is that

1) Most importantly, Internet Diplomacy has migrated out beyond the
Judges. There are lots of other GMs and game systems and lots of
other people playing on them. Also, many Judge veterans are going
that way too.

2) Of indeterminant significance, there are a LOT of people in the
Dipping hobby (not me) playing LOTS of on-line poker and earning
LOTS of money.
