hi guys,

acer 800 xci notebook
-1.3ghz PM
-14.1" tft lcd
-40gig hdd
-512mb DDR
-64mb radeon 9000
for 3088 singapore dollars, which is about 1764 greenback

good deal or no? acer is definately not as well known for notebooks here as say... toshiba or ibm, but a similiar configuration from either would cost at least 300us more, any recommendations/opinions on a similiar system? would getting a shared 64mb graphic/mobo set up be much different? i could get a faster processor but sacrifice on the dedicated graphics card for about the same price, would that be a good idea? i will be using this notebook mainly for school work but i do hope to play some games too, battery life is important to me hence centrino, but if you know of any p4 mobile systems with good battery life feel free to state here, esp from bigger companies like ibm or toshiba, you can't get area 51's here...

anyways thanks
all opinions welcome

Looks like an ok deal. The 9000 is very nice. Tom's just reviewed the Centrino and the Quad speed AMD solution and found the Cent better but much more expensive. The newest AMD stuff is a better value, but the Cent is better overall.

Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire.
