Though as a Republican, I am still expected more in the Presidents performance here's my scorecard.

I recorded 23 identifiable questions. Same rules 10 points to the best answer, a lesser number to the opponent. I did penalize Senator Kerry for his "Dick Cheney's daughter" answer. Is this guy a complete knucklehead or what? Even gays and lesbians don't appreciate that kind of below the belt jab. It was not a good response to begin with. Is he really presidential material? Of course not.

Bush 220 Kerry 201.

Bush was simply better with facts and more focused, despite the awkward delivery.

The pundits saw it "Kerry on defense. I really didn't. He was plenty offensive. Bush just trumped his tired facts in too many places.

Kerry recycled too many criticisms from debates one and two. He didn't bring any fresh material, he has no pheasable plan. That allowed Bush to counter him effectively even if awkwardly at times.

I really did not like Kerry conveniently losing his cultivated upper class accent and using the word "ID- er" four times ala JFK I (That's "The First" for those children left behind by previous Administrations.).

That was gauche.

BTW- my some of my pathlology is much more similar to Kerry's than Bush's. We both attended private Catholic Schools and I symathixe with some points. But my parents weren't diplomats, and the Ivy League was not in the offering.

And as everyone I'm sure knows, I still ain't no diplomat.

I called it a draw at first but then it went towards Bush. The gun questions, religion question, and woman in your life question really did it for me.

Besides that, Kerry keeps using the same stupid rhetoric that has been killed by the press after each debate.

The 17% medicare increase is not Bush's fault for example.

Too political for me. It's what turned me off and away from Gore too.

Kerry for example stopped using his "I have a plan" intro to each question. That wasn't working well apparently. I feel like I'm watching the result of a focus group. His karate chop is gone from his hand gestures is another example.

Bush was a little more combative, but he played it too close. I expected either an all out attack or the "Mr. Rogers" approach. He didn't do either.

Kerry has allegedly been practicing religiously in Santa Fe for two days. He would start off okay, but then he rambled way off course time and time again. And when he didn't do that, he just repeated lines from the first two debates.

They were both too tight. But Bush was better getting his facts out. Kerry just mouthed platitudes. When Bush challenged his facts, Kerry never countered, cause they were on target.

It's a Presidential debate.......what has the current Vice-President's daughter's sexual orientation got to do with anything????
Yep, that was below the belt..even below the belt of our President's running mate.
Totally uncalled for....I could hardly believe that Edwards mentioned it during his debate with Mr. Cheney. I really wonder why Kerry and Edwards try to stoop so low as to say anything they "think" people want to hear..

I think this will cost them in votes.

I didn't see the debate. Only caught a few seconds during Bush speaking something about God, religion and his principles, with tolerance on different religions. He seemed more "into it", if not sympathetic. But I'm not saying very founded stuff, I haven't really seen anything.

Though from what you said, attacking Cheney's daughter or using her as a tool for Kerry? Uh, I thought liberals were more nice than that, especially towards rights. Man that pisses me off too.
Has anyone seen how Cheney was when he defended his daughter some months ago? I saw a whole new man out of him, the way he had a diverging opinion(and a very significant one in recent times, especially for a conservative like him) from his own president even though nonetheless he continues to serve by him proudly. Certainly respectable, he put his daughter's love above anything else, and then maintained his support for his president.

I thought it was 50/50 all the way through as DH said. If I had to draw a winner out I'd say to the average American who hadnt been paying attention to the news or political happenings for the last year.. Kerry won.
For the educated who understands the principles/how economics work/how the world works: Bush won.
When I say educated I dont mean your average know-nothing, party animal college student who is being molded into some liberal professors image..

Considering those perspectives, it was a draw. As I said in my thread, the final question really blew what Kerry had built up for most of the debate (which was a decent performance), out of the water.

Also, as the OP said.. the comment about Cheney's daughters was very unpresidential.. and a jab he should have left for Edwards (if anyone at all).

Kerry is obviously a highly read and honed politician.. but it would take a Clinton for a Democrat to beat Bush. To Bush's credit.. he really is a force to be reckoned with, no one says it but politically hes very savvy.

The "I'm a dumb hick" act that the rich, Anglo Saxon Connecticut-born boy that Bush has put on for years since he ran for office in Texas works like a charm.

And Dumbocrats propagate it. They have too much elitism in the party not too. But the average American is eating it up.

To the dummy who just watches the debates and doesn't listen then Kerry won every one.

Ahh, it's so confusing!

Thought you would find this interesting. Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day". This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government.

This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's the earliest it has been since 1991. It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates?

Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim.

Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men. Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame). Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000. Does that sound right?
The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.

I was glad when Kerry would throw in the fact that Bush has not visited with the NAACP yet. The last 11 presidents have. I think this is unexcusable and it shows Bush isn't even attempting to get the 10% of black voters who don't vote Democrat.

Bush, honestly.
The gay marriage issue concerns me little. I know it ain't gonna pass, and could care less. Civil unions denied would anger me, but I think those will pass.

Like I said, there are things I don't agree with Bush, but I still support him. I don't believe no one who stands by 100% of what his President says or thinks. We all disagree on something the other says.

The Afghani war was IMO one of the most effective and efficient ones I've seen. Fast, made a HUGE regime change, and the aftermath has been so far relatively NOT that bad.

Amazing considering the Taliban is one of Osama's inventions, yet Saddam's regime isn't related to Osama. (as in, he holds it in control or has influence on it)

This was just sent to me, I did not check the facts, but seems believable.

Quote :

I think a little perspective is in order.......

Even if you're not interested in debate, every American should know the following:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January.....
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.
That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.

When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, consider the following .

FDR...
led us into World War II.
Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman...
finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy... started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson... turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton...
went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. (we are STILL there)
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.
Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
In the two years since terrorists attacked us

President Bush has ... liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats (and media) are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing the best job he knows how!
The Military is doing a superb job, given the circumstances!
The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.

I don't know about that last paragraph, but one thing that is wrong is that Bush has NOT put nuclear inspectors in North Korea. In fact they removed inspectors, cameras, etc from North Korea.

The rest though is food for thought.

The media is very biased nowadays. In that last debate Kerry contradicted himself on the Pell grants, flip flopping right then and there, but the media didn't even say anything.
