Hi folks. I searched the board but am still unsure about my next move.

I don’t have enough money to upgrade my system but have about 275.00 or so for a monitor.

My system is a Dell Dimension 4550, PIIII 2.5 , 1GB DDR ( not DDR 2 ) Ram and an ATI 9600 XT/Pro ( AGP ) with DVI and Analog connections. My motherboard only supports up to AGP 4x – not 8x.

I would like to buy a 19inch LCD that will be used for office applications and gaming. Specifically – I will be playing RTS games like Cossacks, Rise of Nations etc..

My questions:

With my system and a 19 inch LCD will analog be sufficient? – meaning will I not strain my eyes when doing office applications and still be able to enjoy games pretty well?

I understand I will not be on the cutting edge. I mean how much will DVI mean to me from an enjoyment / eye strain perspective??

Any information or links would be appreciated. I saw a Planar 1900 with 8 ms response for around 250.00 – analog only and thought that might be a good choice?

Thanks – jg1234

DVI > Analog

vx922 is 259.99 at newegg.com right now. Within your budget and only a little bit more than the no name brand you found.

1280x1024 native res. 2 MS refresh, has DVI and VGA.

I own it and love it for games. You should, too.
