how can i get my phone to lock in extended network by verizon because of poor strength

So, the issue that your having is a lack of a signal strength when you are in roam? There is really nothing you can do about it save for calling verizon and seeing what they have to say. Chances are that they cannot do much, as the location you are having issues with probably does not have a cell tower nearby.
