I recently Purchased the Medusa 5.1 Mobile Edition headset and followed all directions and FAQ's, but my microphone will not work. I have tried changing all settings in Control Panel and in the Driver's themselves but there is still no sound being heard by other people coming from my microphone. When i enter places such as Ventrilo or TeamSpeak the program dosnt even allow me to press the hotkey to at least activate a communication while using this headset as the set as the correct input/ output device. Even testing the microphone it does not detect its usage.
When using the Headset a bubble pops up saying i am exceeding my USB Bandwidth even tho i have usb 2.0. But when the drivers are installed and my Headset is put into the same slot as before, i do not recieve that message.
I Have changed the setting of the soundcard to Disabled/Auto back and forth in my BIOS and still no change.

So i e-mailed the support and this is what they said
"this seems to be a defective Headset, please change it there you bought it."

This seems to be the universal response from all reps. from Speed-link since i have seen that response upon looking at other forum member's posts.

So i decided to go to the company i ordered through and this was their repsonse
"Best practice is to remove all sound drivers associated with the Medusa and unplug it. Download the latest drivers from the Speed-Link website and save them to your harddrive. Re-start your PC. Enter BIOS and disable on-board sound. Re-start and check within Hardware Manager that no sound drivers are currently loaded. Install the Medusa using the newly downloaded drivers. Re-start even if it does not instruct you to do so."

So truthfully i did the steps in this fasion and to no prevail, the only thing i seemed to have fixed was once installed i could activate the microphone and i saw, in the configuration utility, the microphone fluctuating, but no sound was coming from the headset itself. So i decided to reboot my computer which once again the issue came up as to where i can only HEAR sound and my microphone is not recognized by any program such as Ventrilo or TS.

Now that i know the Microphone isnt faulty, i have to ask what could be causing these problems or if anyone has a solution to this issue.

First things first: are you sure you are using Medusa mic in the first place? In your windows sound settings is Medusa selected as your prime recording Device(Control Panel/Sound/Voice)? Even if you picked that option in TeamSpeak, I believe windows settings overrides that. Once you verified that, test with Windows Recorder, since it usually is the sure-way to know if the mic is working.

Yes i did check that, i also checked that the only thing for sound being used was the headset since for the USB version the "soundcard" is integrated into the earphones themselves. I can either the the Microphone to work and i can hear not a sound, or i can get the Sound to work and not a chance at getting the Microphone to work even after checking all settings in/outside of the Drivers configuration utility.

Hmm puzzling indeed. May I suggest using your onboard 5.1 sound card and analog jacks from the headphones? Performance of USB headphones is usually on par with the on board cards (i.e. not great).
