Brand new Sony just installed. Sucker powers up, recognized by XP but won't eject. Grrrr.... this stuff is so fragile...

Grrrr. Something's amiss. The 2nd DVD unit also does not eject. I don't see any kind of shipping locks nor any referecne in the setup guide. The eject button does not kick out the tray; lights comes on but then goes out. This is too weird. Two lemons in a row? Must be something else. I don't get it. Any ideas?

I heard about this before but I don't remember the solution.

Try this test.

Go into BIOS setup. Now test the drawer. If it works you know the drive is OK mechanically and if it is then this would mean that something in Windows is fouling the drawer operation.

Sorry, I can't offer more help.
