is that okay if i use 2 memory stick from different maker, e.g. crucial and kingston on duel channel. Will they give me reduce performance than if i use 2 memory stick from the same maker?

thx for reading

this is hard tp say as it's yes and no, it will work sometimes i believe it is only if the timings are similar, as for performance my guess would be that it would equal that of the lesser brand

P4 2.8c
Seagate 160g 7200rpm 8mb cache
2x256 Crucial PC3200
Radeon 9800pro 128
Asus P4P800

Ya it should work but dual channel stress memory more so sometimes there are soem compatibility issues. With quality ram it should work tough.
Both stick will runnin at the same speed/timmings.
The speed&timmin will be those from the slowest stick.

so in layman's term does that mean that if cache latency is different its going to blow? man, i have a kingston hyperx 3200 cl 2 now and looking for a second stick for the dual ram but with the prices right now it doesnt look too good at 80 buck a stick

I wont blow it will just slow down the best stick. If you buy a CL 3 stick both will be running at CL3...

From how I understand dual channel, it doesn't matter that much if you have higher latency. The dual channel memory controllers stagger memory requests, which effectively reduces latency. You should still buy your RAM from a quality manufacturer, but if you plan on dual-channel, you can probably live with the higher latency.
