I am trying to set absence on a dpjudge game that allows this to be done.
My syntax is: Set Absence Mar 10 to Mar 15 and the judge replies to say
'bad absence specified'. Can anyone help? Many thanks.

Set Absence Mar 10 to Mar 15

is completely correct syntax for the njudge software -- IF you typed it
EXACTLY as above. Which Judge did you send this command to?

You must login to your position first.

Then you can set an absence.

You cannot, however set an absence if the current phase deadline falls
later than the start time unless you have already submitted orders for
this phase.

In short, you must submit valid orders for this phase before you can set
an absence that begins soon.

Yes, this is correct.

This is not entirely correct. The start time for the absence must be in
the future, though it need only be a few minutes. The judge does not
check for complete orders before scheduling an absence. That said, the
absence command will not move the current deadline. Only the master can
do that.

While it is simply polite to schedule known absences as far in advance
as possible, the command: SET ABSENCE TO {some future date} will work.
The judge will assume today for the start date.
