Hey, not sure if this is the right section to be posting but I'm hoping to get some help with a problem I've been having. Recently I clean installed to Windows 7 but an issue I've been having for a while still occurs. My computer has been locking up frequently and resulting in me having to hard reset. It's become more common and now happens when I'm simply browsing the web or on the desktop whereas before it only happened if I was using flash content or playing high end games. The screen randomly locks up, sometimes with a high pitched noise coming from the speakers, and it's occurring now to the point that my PC is nearly unusable.
At first I thought it could be overheating so I download realtemp and when idle, my PC sits at around 50-60 degrees. When playing a game this can go up to as high as 70-75. I know this is quite high but freezing has occurred on the login screen so surely it cannot be overheating when it's just been booted up?
I cleaned the inside of dust and reapplied thermal gel to the CPU fan, making sure all fans are working but the temperature is still fairly high. I'm going to run memtest later as I'm positive its a hardware problem and am just trying to target down the issue. Also, all that event viewer gives me is event ID 41, kernel power, and there is no dmp file created.
