Can't burn 8x

I just bought the Lite-On DVD-RW SOHW-812S (8x +R and -R).
I also bought Maxell 4X DVD-R 4.7GB 50-Pack Spindle Blank Media, Model 635127 at newegg.
When I try to burn files to a DVD-R, Nero only let me burn using 4x speed (And 2x) but not 8x.
Is there anything to do to burn at 8x ???

PS: Please I don't need comments like "I'm using Ritek's DVD and it works fine" etc....

Have not used that drive, but if you nero with a cd-rw it detects the speed of the media and limits the writing to that speed. I have 32x RW but stack of 4x media, result can only write at 4x speed.
Buy a single 8x media any try it out. problem sould go away.
