I was wondering what the best method of cleaning a tft without leaving any smears on it would be? usign a damp cloth leaves smears that you can see when the monitor is off or displaying dark colours.

The streaks are from things in your tap water. Try distilled water. $.50 for a gallon at the super market.

get a lcd cleaning kit from your local comp shop. bascially it wil have a solution that evaporates better than water and some dust/lint free cleaning cloths. it should do the trick.
