I am currently building a system able to handle Far Cry and similiar games. I am NOT an overclocker and am currently sporting a P3 800...so I need to upgrade.

Here is what I am considering:
$223 AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache 64-bit
$198 ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB
$192 2 x 512MB PC3200 Corsair Ram
$___ MOBO?

Appreciate some info on what you think.

Does the ATI 9800 XT come in a 256mb version? I am told that the XT is best and 128 is great...the extra money spend on 256mb will not result in a big difference so sav the money for a next gen. card in 6 months or so. ??

Next gen video cards are closer than 6 months away. Much closer I'd say.

But they are gonna cost about twice what the 9800pro currently costs.
