Windows Installer error installing some programs

I just finished building a new tower and have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have an Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard, an Intel i5-3570k CPU, 8GB G-Skill Ram, and the Gigabyte Geforce GTX 670 vide card.

Most things are doing just fine, however, 2 programs I have tried installing so far have failed, iTunes and Steam, and both say I don't have the proper Windows Installer. Windows is fully updated so I am not sure what is wrong. I have tried looking up the answer, but what was said on the Apple boards made no since for my situation. Any ideas would be very appreciated.

veryfy if you have the proper 64 installers for both programs (you might have the 32 bit kits)

Actually I discovered the problem was some bad memory. I started getting BSOD's of Page fault in non paged area. I ran the built in memory test and it showed bad. I swapped it out, and 9 hours later seems very stable.
