When I shutdown windows 98, my computer pauses at "Please Wait..." screen. Yet there is no improper shutdown error message when I again start the windows.
Any suggestions...!
Are you saying it freezes at the "please wait" message and you have to press reset?
If so the shutdown process sends a signal to tell the system that shutdown type X occured. If you usually press reset, shutdown X did not occur, so run scandisk. The message is probably after the sent signal, so the system thinks all is cool.
If you want a further explaination, check out memory address registers in a search engine.

have u changed ur logos.sys and logow.sys files? maybe u replaced the logos.sys file with the logow.sys file. go into paint and load them up and check. other than that i wouldnt worry too much if u dont have to run scandisk at restart.

If this is due to some driver that is not unloading, can you find which driver is the culprit?
