Cranky Hard Drive?

My hard drive goes nuts sometimes, it will shut off and on at random without no warning. This is not a problem with the hard drive itself as I have tried multiple hard drives and they all do it. Does someone know what other aspect of the PC would cause this to happen?

An overloaded or overheating power supply could certainly cause a problem like this, and that would be my first target when having the system checked out.

If the PSU checks out ok you might look in the control panel\power options to see if your hard drives are set to turn off after a certain time.
