ValueRAM Opinions/Suggestions

I'm getting ready to build a new system using an Athlon 2500+ Mobile on an ASUS A7N8X-UAY board. Won't do *much* OCing, but want to at least run this mobile 2500 at desktop 2500 stock voltage. The final decision becomes RAM. Had I known back in January that the price of RAM was going to go through the roof, I would have stocked up then, but now I'm looking at whatever cheap solution I can find. Hence, when I found a stick of Kingston ValueRAM PC3200 512 locally for $100, I figured it might be a good idea. But I'm also EXTREMELY anal about performance/stability. I orignally was going to go with OCZ 512 PC3200, costing about CDN$200 locally, but since I'm not doing that much in regards to OCing (and will probably only run the FSB at 200Mhz anyways), I'm thinking that ValueRAM might be all I need.

Anyone have any suggestions or opinions about ValueRAM or whether I should even consider it in this new system?

Thanks,

- skubik.

I'm running 512k (2X256) Kingston Value RAM clocked at 220 MHz 3-3-3-8 in my new 2.8 GHz P4C. So far so good. I also used it in my older system before I upgraded to 1 GB HyperX. Honestly I saw no improvements other than the difference between 1GB & 512kB. Timings were identical.

In short unless your really determined to squeak out that last 5% from your system save your money, or increase your memory capacity to 1GB.

ooops, quad post of same thing. I fully agree with you. I am running 2 (512 ) value rams sticks (one for each memmory controller) and they have worked flawlessly. There are better ram on the market, but in cost per performance, I will go with 2 512's of value vs 1 512 of "expensive ram.
