Dual channel or no?

I've just put together a new system with a P4S800D-E and Pentium 4c 3.0 800. I haven't upgraded my memory yet but my 2 x 512 CorsairXMS 3000 overclock to 400/3200 fine. I'm just wondering what is likely to perform better (mainly for online gaming and video rendering) - 1024 (single channel mode) or 512 (dual channel mode)?

Thanks.

I'd leave your system the way it is, withy PC3000 operating as PC3200 in dual channel mode, as long as it's stable.

If you ever do change it, Intel procs need the extra bandwidth from dual channel. Otherwise, you won't get full performance.

For video rendering most will say nothing less than 1 gig of dual channel. So if I were you I would think about saving up so you can afford at least that. Also twin packs are usually the best for dual channel because they are tested to run in dual configuration.

I got <b><A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-440&depa=1" target="_new">these sticks</A></b> and they are pretty sweet, expensive, but all ram is expensive right now.

must be the price of gas. Gas prices affect the price of everything. At least that's what the nice people on TV tell me.
