I can't get that link because I'm at work and they blocked it. What did he say?

Oh my F@#n god. Mine too. The only guy with the balls to say what he thinks. Let me quote for you now "What you do is not honest. What you do is partisan hackery," Stewart said. "You have a responsibility to the public discourse, and you fail miserably." and one from that weenie tucker something or other "I do think you're more fun on your show," to which Stewart replied, "You're as big a dick on your show as you are on any show." Holy crap. I love it. Finally someone who will stand up and say wtf he really means. I'll bet he made that little guy piss his pants. LOL what a F@#king hoot.

Calling "Crossfire" a debate show is "like saying pro wrestling is a show about athletic competition," Stewart said. "You're doing theater, when you should be doing debate

Jon Stewart is a partisan comedian. Why would he be your hero?

You must need better role models.

I'm watching that clip now. So far he's been very disrespectful.

Jon Stewart is as partisan a hack as they are. He's a comedian that spends his time talking about politics from a left point of view. He openly supports Kerry.

He keeps saying that they have a responsibility and that he wants a debate. Do crossfire's guests know the questions ahead of time or pick them?

Why does he watch their show if he doesn't like it? I don't watch it.

I think he was a jackass. If he can suckerpunch them on their show then he should be able to suckerpunch a candidate on his show to get his questions answered.

If you compare the questions the Daily Show asks political figures compared to what other similar shows, like Leno and Letterman, ask, you will see the Daily Show is much more respectable. The Daily Shows doesn't just have the left on it. John McCain is a regular guest, and they actually love him there. Bob Dole has been on many times. They have had several key figures of Bush's campaign. They do ask real questions. I agree for John Kerry, he didn't ask the toughest questions possible. He did ask seriously about Cambodia though. But, you do have to remember that is a comedy show that reports fake news.

I know The Daily Show is on the left. They don't really try to hide it. They do make fun of Kerry a hell of a lot, though. They make fun of everyone.

I would hardly call him a partisan comedian. Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo are partisan comedians.

He is not literally my hero. I just give him a lot of respect for what he said on that show, because he is right. The people on Crossfire do not engage in debate and talk about stuff that matters. They engage in partisan bickering and only say what helps their side. They don't care about the truth, they care about what will help them win.

When the news asks of President Bush in a press conference, "How has your faith been guiding you through these times," you know they aren't doing their job. The news should be asking the real questions, and I think you are being silly if you think the same sense of journalistic responsibility belongs to The Daily Show...

Yeah, I liked what he said too. So what if he wasn't very tactful when he was on the show? I mean they "are a debate show" right? They invited him for a reason, to speak his mind, and he did.

Do you know why these guys can't ask the most pointed of questions that we all want to ask? It's because nobody would come on their show afterwards.

The worst part is that even when they are asked pointed questions they ignore the question and answer with their own pre-practiced answers. We saw it during the debates.

I'd love for someone to get Kerry to really talk about his senate record. I was listening to the radio and one of the right leaning talk show hosts asked the head of the DNC if he could name one bill that Kerry had passed. He couldn't. Kerry only got 5 bills to become law in 20 years. Truly pathetic. I'd like to see someone do an objective look into how other senators do during a 20 year tenure.

Here, I found it:

Quote :

Hannity: Alright Terry, let me ask you this.
McAuliffe: Shoot Sean.

Hannity: He spent 20 years in the United States Senate, 300 Bills proposed, he only passed five. Can you look into the camera right there -- and don't spin -- one specific piece of legislation that John Kerry passed that made this country better in the past 20 years. Look right in the camera right there. What is it?

McAuliffe: Yeah. I can tell you John Kerry was involved in a lot of pieces of legislation.

Hannity: No, no, no. One he wrote, that one accomplishment with his name on it. One bill. Look into the camera.

McAuliffe: First of all Sean, John Kerry has worked on the United States Senate --

Hannity: One bill.

McAuliffe: Working on. He's working on the Small Business bill, he's worked on defense appropriations. He's had a lot of bills with his name on them.

Hannity (over McAuliffe): One bill. Name one that he's accomplished on his own.

McAuliffe: He did a small business financing to help small businesses that he did in the 90s.

Hannity: What did it do? Small Businesses in the 90s?

McAuliffe: Provide loans for more small businesses to go out and --

Hannity: That's it in 20 years? One bill in 20 years? That's all he's done?

McCauliffe: First of all Sean, this election is a referendum first and foremost on George Bush's failed leadership.

Hannity (over McCauliffe): 20 years, that's all he's done?

McAuliffe: George Bush is the first president in 72 years not to create a single job.. he's got a defecit of $424 --

Hannity: I've got your talking points. I got another question. Let me ask you this.

McAuliffe (over Hannity): He couldn't answer any questions today.

Hannity: No, he did. Let me ask you this question.

McAuliffe: What did he answer? The minimum wage? Health care? Immigration?

Hannity: Let me ask you this question. I'll ask the questions.

McAuliffe: I got my time to answer them.

Hannity: The tone in Washington came up tonight and throughout this campaign, I want to know if you support your candidate repeatedly referring to the President as misleading and lying to the country, Ted Kennedy saying he concocted a war for political gain. Howard Dean saying that the President knew about the events -- that he knew about 9/11 ahead of time. Dennis Kuscinich saying that he targeted civilians for assassination.

These are the leaders of your party. That's the negative tone of Washington. Look in the cameras and tell Americans that you are proud of what your leading Democrats said.

McAuliffe: No I don't think that's true.

Hannity: Are you proud of what they've said. Do you support those statements?

McAuliffe: I am very proud of what the Democrats have done in this campaign, yeah.

Hannity: The President's a liar? You want to call him a liar?

McAuliffe: You bet I do.

Hannity: You support that?

McAuliffe: Absolutely.

Hannity: And the President concocted a war for political gain? And the President targeted civilians for assassinations?

McCauliffe: Look, look at tonight. George Bush tonight said that he didn't say that about Usama Bin Laden and said it Sean. He couldn't answer the questions Sean.

Hannity: Do you believe George Bush knew about 9/11 ahead of time? Do you believe that?

McAuliffe: No, I don't believe it.

Hannity: As Howard Dean advanced. Don't you think it's wrong that Howard Dean said that?

McAuliffe: I'll let Howard Dean speak for himself. Ask me the questions ---

Hannity: He's your party. You're the head of the party.

McAuliffe: You want to be responsible for everyone in the Republican party Sean?

Hannity: This is what your party said.

McAuliffe: Listen we're an enormous tent. We've got a lot of people who make different statements Sean.

Hannity: Why don't you condemn Dennis Kuscinish when he says the President is targeting civilians for assassinations. We are at war and your party has politicized the war and your party has said false things about the President. Your party calls the President a liar every day. And I think as leader, you ought to say, if you want to change the tone of Washington it's gonna start with me.

McAuliffe: No, no let's change George Bush and get this country moving in the right direction Sean.

Hannity: Why don't you start changing the tone?

McAuliffe: I could care less about the tone today. I care about millions of people who lost their job --

Hannity: So you're proud of that?

McAuliffe: the largest budget deficit we've ever had --

Hannity: The greatest rate of growth in 20 years.

McAuliffe: Why don't we talk about some real issues Sean.

Hannity: The greatest rate of growth in 20 years. We got out of your party's recession. We got out of the negative impact of 9/11.

McAuliffe (to Colmes): Our party's recession don't you love that?

Hannity: A lower unemployment rate.

McAuliffe: 22 million new jobs, a 5.6 trillion dollar surplus.

Hannity: Because the Republicans took over the Congress.

McAuliffe: Oh yeah, they did a lot for it. The Deficit Reduction Act of 1993.

Colmes: They keep misstating Kerry's record, they keep misstating statistics and you can go to the same one that Cheney talked about factcheck.org and get the truth. The same one that he said we should look at during the last debate.

McAuliffe: This is very simple Sean, if people think that George Bush has done a great job in this country creating jobs -- then go vote for him.

Hannity: One accomplishment, one accomplishment. One bill with his name on it.

McAuliffe: Please don't touch me.

If you want John Kerry if you want to move this country forward. You want to create some jobs, you want to cut our deficit in half, you want to fully fund education and health care Sean ---

Hannity: You have talking points 20 years ago.

McAuliffe: And that's why we're winning in the polls.

Colmes: We gotta run. We'll be right back.

Hannity: We'll see on election day.

McAuliffe: I got my watch for you.

Hannity: I'll see you at the inauguration.

McAuliffe: George Bush where the hands go backwards.

Colmes: By the way, if you missed any part of tonight's debate.....

Now I realize he's right leaning, but I can't imagine a more pointed question than that.

20 years and no record?

With Republicans in the majority in both Congress and the Senate, how could anything a Democrat has proposed possibly get passed?

You've tried and failed. The lesson here is, never try again. -- Homer Simpson.

That's the thing Stewart was getting at. None of those guys ask questions and expect an answer. None of the guests actually answer the questions. It's sad. They're on the same interview level as a defensive lineman.

So what do you think are the keys to success in the future?

1. We have to go out there and make policy. We have to do what's right for the American people and make the world a safe place again.

2. We gotta run the football better. Make our tackles, and put more points on the board than the other team.

What? Kerry has been in the senate for 20 years. Do you think that no democrat can get anything done now because they are the minority? It's a one seat minority in the senate.

Jon Stewart did a terrible job of making his point. He didn't even suggest a pointed question or suggest making them answer the questions. He just said the show was bad. When he brought up spin alley he could have made his point there much more effectively.

I don't even watch crossfire, but I do understand the concept of constructive critisism. What I don't understand is why Jon Stewart was on that show.

He did a great job of making his point. He said the truth, and he was right on the money. I don't understand why you are having such a tough time grasping what he was saying...

Sure, if they asked the hard questions less people would go on their show. But if everyone would be asking those hard questions, then they'd either end up having to or this crap would all just go away. Either one of those is better than what we have.

Sorry, I was just making a point.

For the most part I agree with you but I really don't think Jon Stewart did a good job making his point.

He burned a bridge. He could have done it better. Personally I thought he was a jackass since he's smart enough to be able to get on there and point blank say: "Make them answer the questions and don't patronize them and their spin".

H & C on Fox news is like watching the aftermath of a train derailment.

The one is so ugly that he truely has a face for radio, i could listen to that show MAYBE but i could never watch it.

As for all this whole Jon Stewart thing, its true that he doesn't ask the toughest questions on his show but he said it best himself.....The show on before him is puppets making crank phone calls.

Who cares about this? I mean really....tell me, There are people on all 3 sides of this issue (Dem. Rep. Ind.) that are complete liars and will mishandle the truth and twist it all around.

For every Al Frankin there are Rush's.
For every 'independant' that supports Bush (O'Reilly comes to mind) there are others who support Kerry (Howard Stern)

All have outlets for expression. All have ideas, with which they twist the facts around. All tell only one side of the story, and can you blame them? why would they make a case against the person they support?

Politics just makes me shake my head.
Why are we so proud to have the right to vote, when quite often we are chosing between one liar and another?

With only two political parties we are literally one step away from no elections at all. How many of you out there are voting not FOR someone but rather AGAINST someone else?

Voting should be taken seriously, and yet all too often only douchebags run. Why can't our politicians be honest and flawed? I want to know where they stand not in a PC way, but in reality. Flame me if you want to, but the political figure i most admire is Jessie 'The Mind' Ventura. Not for his stance on politcial issues (because to be honest i dont know what they are because i live nowhere near MN) but because he wanted to serve his country, be who he was, and try to make a difference. Career politicians know that they can't stand for anything radical because they couldn't move up or even get re-elected.
Step 1, DO YOUR GODDDAMNED JOB!!
Step 2, If you do it well you will be re-elected.
<<<<<NOT>>>>>
Step 1, be nice to get re-elected
Step 2, sqeeze in something you promised, as long as it doesn't mess with step 1.

If an ATM will only let you get money in increments of $20, then why does it force you to enter anything after the decimal point?!?

Well, I can agree with the sentiment and frustration expressed in your post, but ... nobody ever said this election/voting thing was gonna be easy. Your job is to gather as much information from all/many POV's and then try to digest it as best you can ... perhaps, you'll be the one to "correct" the imbalances. Hopefully if you vote as wisely as you can, you'll have filtered out as much BS as possible (for you).

Yea, but sometimes you do have to hold your nose ...

Wow. You really hit the nail on the head. If I have to choose between two people I don't like then what is the point of having an election? That's why I'm voting for Nader. Sure he's not perfect but he stands for what he belives in. If he were elected to office he would be there by the will of the people, not any special interests. How long has it been since we had that in a political office?
