I also forgot that these are laptops refurbished by dell and guaranteed to look and work like new with a 21 day return policy for free and a 1 yr limited warranty on parts and labor.

how true this is :(

these laptops are good value, on the Dell site you have to pay a lot to get much better than the IntelJ Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and infact when i last looked i couldn't see any studio laptops with much better than an integrated card, you had to go with XPS. In my opinion i owuld go with options 1 or 4! Not sure if the gpu on the studio laptop is better than the one on the XPS, but it hasmore memory, which is always a plus. However, $649.00 for an XPS is good, if your positive its in good condition. i knwo people who have had bad experiences with buying second hand laptops.

On the low to midrange end, I like ATI for, what I observe, is superior HW decoding capabilities, i.e. BlueRay and other HD content. And since the beginning (back in the Mach days), ATI has almost always had better 2D rendering than the competition, but it's something moot, these days.

Oh, that's a refurb? Explains the price.

Like I always say. . Studio series is the poor man's XPS. . . or the rich man's Inspiron-- you know-- however you want to look at it.

no way man, for a gaming laptop i'd DEFINITELY go with the xps. Hands down it's the best there is for gaming. If you want something more along the media lines, i'd go with a Sony Vaio, but their a little more expensive. The quality for an xps is remarkable, and if you can get it for that price then do it. I'd shoot for a stronger processor though, but the one you listed should do. Studio's are built for design and business, not entertainment. Same with the Vostro. Inspiron and Xps are your best bet. IF you want to dish out some more cash, Dell has an XPS World of Warcraft Edition on their site. So ya, XPS wins.

For that price you could just order a custom laptop with 9800M GT and quad core processor. Way cheaper than Dell or Alienware.

If my budget would be at 800$, i would look for an Acer laptop. Very good value for the price imo, or get an laptop with 8600M GT as cheap as possible to ensure that all games work.

Hell yea...custom laptops IMO are always cheaper than buying from a manufacturer. You can get laptops that are just as good as an XPS for better money. And as for Alienware, sure they look good but they are one hell of a rip off!

i think im going to be patient like you all have said and look around i might get a xps just depends what other deals i can find might even try ebay if its new in the box with a warranty would could go wrong? but now im expanding my budget to $800 i have looked at the world of warcraft laptop a real rip off id say maybe buy a nice used car for that price that gets 25-30 a gallon the price gas is right now prolly would be a better investment just dont got that kind of money to waste as im going back to school prolly and will need all the money i can get! :)
