OCZ has just released their Dual Channel Performance grade DDR PC3700. 2 X 512 = $250.00 US with free shipping from Monarch Computers. No more PC3700 Gold. (Sigh)

If you don't plan on overclocking, your FSB will be at 166Mhz. So, I'd get a cheap pair of Brand named 512Mb (1Gb total) DDR400 modules like Kingston ValueRAM and clock it down to system speed.
If you overclock, get good and proven DDR400 modules like Corsair XMS or Kingston HyperX (the cheaper ones in your market). Nevertheless, 1Gb is the amount recommended for your intended use.
Hope this helps!

I recently switched my Asus mobo (because of problems) for a DFI NFII Ultra Infinity. Cheap, reliable and great performer. You might want to have a look into it. People also have good feelings for Abit, especially the NF7.
