Hi, i`m new to this , I have a advent 7035 2.8gb notebook, It powers on then 3 or 4 seconds powers off, now i have read it could be the heatsink not connecting to the motherboard properly, but how can can this be so , when its screwed in. Any suggestions would be gratefully thankfull. ivanhoe58.

The first thing you want to do is disconnect everything you can from the notebook- take out the CD drive, remove one stick of RAM (to leave one in the unit..if there's only one, then don't worry), remove the hard disk, remove the battery, and any other thing you can get rid of. Then plug in the AC adapter and try powering on the notebook.

Hi, just tried what you said no luck, now i did put in a new screen off anther machine with a different fitting on the back, also changed the screen wires so it would fit would that make difference. thanks

Problem sorted. thanks it was the screen, not being compable.
