I'm looking at alienware.com and am comparing the M17 vs the M17x laptop's. One is nvidia based and the other is Ati the M17 uses a ati mobility 3870 HD and nvidia uses a 9800 GT which do you belive is stronger and is it 1000 dollars stronger?

The two laptops with most settings on max or close to it have about a 1200 dollar difference nvidia being more ofcourse.

The 3870 in crossfire is not $1000 slower at all.

In single card head to head, the 9800's will outpace the 3870's in most games. However, crossfire tends to scale better than SLI, so they really start to pick up the slack. I do not believe that the GeForce based system is worth the premium.
